Meta's New Model Has a Shorter Commute

Meta and Apple have teamed up to launch Muse Spark Open, an open-weight AI model that runs locally on Apple silicon. The release creates a model option centered on compatible Macs rather than exclusively remote execution. For developers, the combination of available weights and local operation offers a different starting point from using only a hosted interface. For the desk, it offers another reason the expensive computer should count as productive equipment. The cloud has not been abolished. Some of its customary conversation has simply moved into the rectangle already occupying the workspace.
